Winter Painting Ideas For All Levels

Tutorials | Painting Ideas |My Supplies Favorites

I am NOT a big fan of winter temperatures, but it is a beautiful season to paint, that comes both with some ease - a more limited palette and a challenge - how to make white snow look white and actually paint it?

I've completely redid the roundup with winter painting ideas, it has a few kid-friendly art projects and some ideas for beginners and more advanced painters.

They are great for painting with acrylics, gouache, poster colors, or even oil. A few will be easy to adapt to markers or colored pencils.

50+ Winter Canvas Painting Ideas

Some of my favorite winter ideas to draw or paint:

  • Snowflakes and candy cane!
  • Birds on branches of viburnum
  • Snowy mountains (also very easy!)
  • For kiddos, fork painted Christmas trees with finger painting ornaments
  • Log cabin in the woods (you can paint pines with a fan brush!), and more ideas you'll find on the list.

Some of my kids' drawing ideas come with a free printable coloring page, make sure to grab it!

More Updates From Crafting Community

I am starting to get ready for the holidays, one of my friends already ordered ALL the gifts, but I am not that organized. I am still looking for gift ideas that I can make with my own hands! Shoot if you have something in mind.

As a sweet tooth my first idea was some desserts, so I found out you can make decorated hot chocolate balls that will work like a bath bomb once submerged in hot milk/water. I want to try it for myself, and for gifting, I will add these funny tags.

If you're more into crafting, I think these Nutcrackers are absolute gold and actually look good enough so you can put them on display.

Finally, I don't know about you, but I am absolutely useless with a needle. My mom used to make me full outfits when I was a little girl, but well, apparently, those skills were not passed down to me LOL. So this No-Sew Scandinavian Star Ornament picked my attention, as you can guess, because it requires zero skills. It looks absolutely beautiful!

See you next week!
